Taylor Markley

Woodstock Academy, Junior

Statistics: First-place finisher in every event at the State Open on course to be named the all-around champion with 38.775 points. Scored 9.8 on Vault, 9.750 on Bars, 9.650 on Beam and 9.575 on Floor to Sweep, which she had also achieved in Class M competition. At the New England meet, Markley finished second all around with 38.155. She finished second on vault 9.85, bars 9.75 and floor 9.5.

Honors: All-New England First Team. First Team All-State. All-ECC First Team.

Off the mat: Honor roll student. Member of the Student Council. Coach at Deary’s Gymnastics.

Kaitlyn Abbey

East Lyme, Senior

Statistics: Posted the third-highest all-around score of 35.82 average, second on bars 9.1 and second on floor 9.3. Tied for sixth on the uneven bars 9.275 in the New England meet. Fifth on bars with 9.125 and tied for sixth on floor with 9.0 at State Open. Placed second in all-around (36.35), bars (9.2) and beam (9.0) at ECC Championships.

Honors: Three All-State selections. Three times All-ECC. Member of the national high school team.

Off the mat: Participate and volunteer at ABC Gymnastics.

Following: Will attend Central Connecticut State University.

Olivia German

Woodstock Academy Freshman

Statistics: Aleman’s 36.50 overall helped the team win the Class M championship. She finished third in the all-around around 36.375 and third in the floor exercise with 9.20 at the State Open. Aleman tied for fifth on vault at 9.475 and on floor at 9.375 in the New England meet. Helped the team win the ECC Championship for the 12th time in a row with a 9.1 jump, 9.05 bars, 9.55 floor and 36.0 all around.

Honors: Scholar ECC athlete. Winner of the ECC Sportsmanship Award. First Team All-State. All-ECC First Team.

Off the mat: Distinguished student. Member of the National Honor Society. Member of the student council.

Brooke Anderson

Daniel Hand, Freshman

Statistics: Posted a 9.325 on vault when Hand won the S class. She had a best 9.3 on vault and was second in the all-around (36.65) when the Tigers won the SCC title. She scored a team best 9.3 on vault when Hand placed second with a school best 143.225 at the New England Championship. Averaged 35.00 in all around for the season.

Honors:All American on vault, bars, beam, all around. First Team All-State. All-CSC.

Off the mat: All-American Academic. High honor roll student. Plays in the school orchestra.

Lindsay Capobianco

Saint Joseph, Senior

Statistics: Scored 9.0 on vault, 9.3 on balance beam, 9.3 on floor exercise and 8.750 on uneven bars at New England Championships. Second in the FCIAC in the all-around with a score of 36.45. Posted a 34.90 all-around when St. Joseph placed second in the S class. Capobianco was fourth at the State Open on beam scoring 9.150. His 36.30 overall was the second best on average. School record holder on balance beam and floor exercises. Totaled 1219.275 points during his career.

Honors:First team All-State all four years. All-American as a senior. CFFW Winter Scholar Athlete.

Off the mat: Winner of the National Honor Society, the Math Honor Society and the Saint Anselm College Book Award. Special Olympics volunteer.

Following: Will attend Sacred Heart University.

Daniel Hand, Freshman

Statistics: Led Hand at the SCC and Class S Championships. Fourth in all around with a score of 36.025 at the State Open. Most outstanding performer at the league meet, where she placed first on balance beam with 9.2 and floor exercise with 9.1 while winning all-around at 36.15. Flickinger was the leading points earner for the United States Tigers with 9.35 on uneven bars, 9.325 on balance beam and 9.1 on floor exercise. Averaged 35.62 overall during the regular season. Tied for fifth on uneven bars with 9.275 at the New England meet.

Honors: All American in all around. First Team All-State. First fully CSC team.

Off the mat: All-American Academic.

Julianna Gagliardi

Haddam-Killingworth, Junior

Statistics: Gagliardi led the way for HK in the M class where she placed third on vault (9.175), fourth on floor exercise (9.0) and fifth on balance beam (8.8). At the State Open, Gagliardi was third on vault (9.3) and fifth on floor (9.075). She had a season average of 35.48 overall.

Honors: First Team All-State. Three New Haven Register selections in all areas. Tout-Rive Conference.

Off the mat:Honor roll student, volunteer for Special Olympics gymnastics. Train young athletes at Flip-Flop Gymnastics.

Mia Guster

Staples, Junior

Statistics: Class L vault champion at 9.6 and second at the State Open with a 9.525. Tied for second in floor exercise with 9.250 and fifth in floor exercise with 9.250 and balance beam with 9.0 at Opens. At FCIAC, placed second on floor with 9.20 and third on vault with 9.3. She had an 8.85 on the floor in the United States.

Honors:All American on beam and floor. Elite All American on vault. New England, qualifying for the State Open. First Team All-State. All-FCCIAC First Team.

Off the mat: German National Honor Society.

Lauren Heller

Stamford, Senior

Statistics: Tied for fourth on uneven bars in New England with a 9.45. Placed third on bars at 9.4 at the State Open. Heller was second on bars with 9.5 and fifth all-around with 34.8 at FCIAC.

Honors : Three-time first-team All-State. All-FCIAC.

Off the mat: Member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society and the National Science Honor Society. Volunteers for the Fish Church Creative Learning Center. Writer and editor for Round Top, school newspaper.

Emma Johnson

Fairfield Warde, Junior

Statistics:Johnson was New England’s best on beam at 9.8. She placed sixth in the all-around at 37.225 with third place on floor exercise at 9.45 and tied for sixth on vault at 9.475. Johnson took second on uneven bars at 9.45, balance beam at 9.550 and tied for second on floor at 9.250 to finish second all around at 37.35 at the State Open. She was all-around champion at the FCIAC meet.

Honors:All of New England. All-State. All-FCIAC.

Jordyn Murray

Ellis Tech, Freshman

Statistics:Murray finished third all around with a score of 38.075 at New England. She tied for third on uneven bars at 9.5 and on balance beam at 9.65. Murray was fourth on vault at 9.675. In the United States, she was fifth on vault scoring 9.225 and 10th on balance beam scoring 9.725. Personal best scores of 9.7 on vault, 9.5 on bars, 9.65 on beam, 9.225 on floor and 38.075 all around.

Honors:All-New England First Team. First Team All-State.

Off the mat:Ranks first in school out of 189 students in the class of 2025. SALT member. Volunteers at the Willimantic food shelter. Works with the Dean of Students in the school. Vice-president of the class of 2025.

Julianna Rizzitelli

Saint Joseph, second year

Statistics:Rizzitelli had a 9.25 on vault, 8.9 on beam, 9.0 on floor and 8.9 on bars when New England met. First team CHSCA All-State in 2021, she scored 9.05 on vault, 8.75 on balance beam and 8.75 on floor when the cadets were runners-up in Class S. Rizzitelli finished third in the all around competition with 36 .35 at the league meet where she placed second on balance beam with 9.15.

Honors:First Team All-State, First Team All-FCIAC.

Off the mat:Quarterly Presidential Honor Roll. Several writing awards.
